HM King Mohammed VI gave his orders to find immediate solutions to the problems of beneficiaries of a housing estate in Al Hoceima, carried out by the real estate company (Compagnie Générale Immobilière, CGI), a subsidiary of Morocco's institutional investor Caisse de Dépôt et de Gestion (CDG).
A joint statement by the ministries of interior and economy said on Saturday that these instructions came following complaints made to the sovereign by several citizens, mainly expatriates, saying that their interests were harmed after purchasing the houses.
HM the King has given his instructions to the interior and economy ministers to conduct an investigation on this matter, pursuant to rules and regulations in force, the statement said.
The first elements of this investigation showed some technical shortcomings in implementing the said project.
The services of the finance general inspection will have a management control of the same project, mainly regarding its financial situation.
The Sovereign ordered that the interior and economy ministers conduct a field control and follow-up, in addition to auditing other projects by the CDG in Al Hoceima and Nador, as well as other Moroccan northern regions.
