Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr will hold a meeting next week with the International Labor Organization (ILO) on means of expanding the ILO's Better Work Program in Egypt.
Nasr said the ILO's approval to implement Better Work Program in 30 companies in Egypt attests to the progress realized in Egypt, according to an Investment and International Cooperation Ministry statement.
Nasr added that this reflected confidence in the Egyptian government's commitment to proceed with measures paving the ground for implementing such programs.
She noted that the ILO's approval crowned Egypt's intensive efforts and continued coordination with the international organization with Egypt to join the program which is being implemented in Bangladesh, Cambodia, Haiti, Indonesia, Jordan, Nicaragua and Vietnam, to encourage investments. 
The ILO approved implementing Better Work Program in 30 companies in Egypt in the clothes sector starting from July till December.
The program will be applied in other firms and sectors after this phase.
The program assists enterprises improve practices based on core ILO labor standards and national labor law. It does this with a strong emphasis on improving worker-management cooperation, working conditions and social dialogue. Enhancing respect for labor standards helps enterprises meet the social compliance demands of global buyers, improves conditions for workers, and helps firms become more competitive by increasing productivity and quality.
