Head of the Palestinian Water Authority (PWA), Eng. Mazen Ghoneim, on Saturday praised the new PS11 sewage pumping station constructed by Qatar Red Crescent (QRCS) in Gaza.
In his remarks, Eng. Ghoneim commended the development projects to serve the water and sanitation sector in Palestine, particularly in Gaza, to mitigate the impact of current water shortages.
"The interventions of QRCS and other organizations concerned with the water sector will definitely help offer better water services for the Palestinian people in the governorates of Gaza," he said.
Dr. Nassar said that the water and sanitation operations of QRCS are aimed to improve the quality of water services. "We closely coordinate with government authorities, including municipalities," he added.
He highlighted a number of vital projects conducted by QRCS to support the water resources of Gaza, notably the development of Asqula Endowment Pond, Gaza City, and construction of a rainwater storage and filtration system in Khan Younis.
The $5 million project is funded by the Programme of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Reconstruction of Gaza, under the supervision of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB)
