Mustafa Rawashdeh

The head of Lower House Integrity and Transparency Committee, MP Mustafa Rawashdeh, said that tax evasion is tantamount to theft of public money, and many countries, including Jordan, suffer from this menace. The sheer volume of such evasion is very high in the Kingdom.
Rawashdeh, who was speaking at a meeting attended by Anti-Corruption Commission president Samih Bino, Audit Bureau president Mustafa Barari, Director General of Income and Sales Tax Department Eyad Qudah and Under Secretary of Finance Ministry Ezzeddin Kanakria, questioned the reasons behind tax evasion and ways to deal with it, in addition to identify companies involved in this process.
He pointed out to practices like circumventing laws and regulations, and stressed the importance of protecting public money and his committee's readiness to cooperate with the Anti Corruption department to solve the problem.
The MP called for justice to be applied without any exception in the issue of tax collection from citizens, and sought for the panel the names of tax evaders. Qudah spoke about various topics related to tax evasion adding that there is confusion among the citizens on the subject where three common types of tax fraud existed.
