The first phase of the Tubli Bay beachfront project is expected to be open late this year. The inauguration of the development scheme will be part of the festivities marking the National Day and His Majesty the King's Accession Day.
Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Jumaa bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi visited the site of the beachfront to inspect the progress of work on the project which will be linked to the neighbouring upgraded road network.
"The project is part of the national strategy to upgrade coastlines and promote beachfronts which attract Bahraini families and residents who are looking for relaxation", he said.
The Tubli Bahrain development project, which covers 15,000 square metres, features beachfronts, green spaces, entertainment venues for families and other facilities and services.
The minister paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa for his directives to conserve Tubli Bay and turn it into a tourism destination.
He underlined the ongoing coordination with the Central Municipal Council in carrying out the multi-phased project, pointing out that the other stages would be opened successively.
