The Executive Director and the representative of Tunisia in the World Bank Jawad Talat said that the recent events that took place in Tunisia last week does not have any impact. He said: “Tunisia’s image before its friends will not be shaken, and especially the World Bank." He added that the bank will spare no effort to make the process of democratic transition in Tunisia’s success. Talat confirmed when he met the Head of the National Constituent Assembly Mustapha Ben Jaafar that the attacks that occurred near and inside the American embassy in Tunis which contradicted with the image of the moderate Tunisian society that hates all forms of violence. This distorts the real image of the country. He said in a statement to Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP): "The Tunisian political leaders have learned the lesson and there will be no tolerance with the phenomenon of violence regardless of its source, as Tunisia is a country of tolerance." He also assured that the tensions amongst all political regimes must be overcome.
