Fishing jetty

A new fishing jetty is expected to open next December in Zallaq. The Southern Municipal Council scheduled the project as part of its sustainable development plans. "The harbour was awarded to a specialised contracting company in a project costing a BD1.8 million", Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Jumaa bin Ahmed Al-Kaabi said.
He paid tribute to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al-Khalifa for his directives, lauding His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier for his follow-up.
He affirmed the ministry's keen interest to carry out development projects which benefit the nation and citizens, including fishing jetties. The Zallaq jetty has been designed to accommodate a total of one hundred and twelve boats, which would meet the needs fishermen in the region. The new facility also includes stores and car parking lots.
The contractor has undertaken the construction of the of the basic infrastructure components, including sea dredging. "The sustainable project is part of plans to construct jetties across Bahrain in a bid to develop marine resources and promote food security", Dr. Kaabi said. He extended thanks to Parliament First Deputy Chairman MP Abdulla bin Khalaf Al-Dosary and Municipal Councilor Badr Al-Dosary for following-up the project.
