Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez said Wednesday his country is looking forward to continuing cooperation and coordination with Egypt in the political, economic and trade domains.
At a joint news conference with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Vazquez said both countries share semi-identical views regarding various issues of mutual concern.
He also commended his first ever visit to Egypt, being the first state visit by a Uruguayan president since the establishment of bilateral relations in 1932.
Vazquez said he agreed with President Sisi on coordinating stances in international fora in light of the current membership of both countries in the UN Security Council, especially with regard to issues of disarmament, peacekeeping, terrorism-combat and environmental change.
He added he also agreed with the Egyptian president on potentials of enhancing bilateral cooperation via utilizing available opportunities, noting that such a trend runs in line with Uruguay’s strategy to enhance relations with African countries.
