Airbus, the European aerospace company, is postponing delivery of 12 A380 superjumbos to Emirates Airline, in a move that adds further pressure to the already struggling aircraft program, The Financial Times reported.

The company announced late on Tuesday that six of the large passenger jets would be postponed from next year to 2018, and a further six from 2018 to 2019.

Some of the delayed deliveries are attributed to an agreement between Emirates and Rolls-Royce, the engine supplier. Emirates said last month that it was having technical issues with its Rolls-Royce engines.

Airbus said it would accelerate the cost-cutting program already under way to ensure that the impact on its target of break-even in 2017 would be minimal.
