The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) agreed to grant Vodafone Egypt the new fourth-generation (4G) internet services license in a 335 million dollars deal.
Under the deal, Vodafone Egypt will get a 42.5 megahertz of 4G spectrum.
The fourth generation of mobile technology (4G) succeeds 3G in providing higher speed internet access for mobile phones.
Also, Egypt's communications regulator agreed to grant Vodafone Egypt a virtual fixed-line license in return for 11.2 million dollars.
The new license will allow Vodafone Egypt to offer excellent services to their clients, said acting president of NTRA Moustafa Abdel Wahed.
The 4G technology will enable mobile operators to increase speed internet in Egypt, offer high-quality services and introduce new services thus benefiting citizens, he added.
Vodafone Egypt is the third mobile operator to get the 4G license after Telecom Egypt and Orange.
The new technology will enable users to display and transfer photographs and multimedia files including videos in a faster and clearer way
