European stock markets closed lower on Tuesday, with London\'s FTSE-100 index of top companies down 0.41 percent at 5,525.54 points. In Paris, the CAC-40 lost 1.43 percent to 3,174.29 points and in Frankfurt the DAX 30 slipped 0.14 percent to 6,046.75 points.
