Gold fell more than $22 on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange Friday as the dollar index gained 0.62 percent. The dollar gained traction on disappointing gross domestic product data from China. Gold closed at $1,658.10 per troy ounce, off $22.50, while silver lost $1.135 to close at $31.38. The euro fell to $1.3074 against the dollar from Thursday\'s $1.3187 while the British pound fell to $1.5847 from $1.5961. Against the Japanese yen, the dollar rose to 80.9 yen from Thursday\'s 80.89. The dollar was 7.7589 Hong Kong dollars from 7.7647 Thursday. The Australian dollar fell to $1.0373 from $1.0441 and against the Canadian dollar, the greenback rose to 99.95 cents from 99.43 cents Thursday.
