Indian main stock index Sensex opened at 16,754.68 points Thursday, 21.19 points or 0.12 percent lower from previous close of 16,775.87 on weak buying. Oil and gas, IT, technological and state-owned companies sector declined 0.96 percent, 0.81 percent, 0.44 percent and 0.26 percent, respectively. Reliance Industries, Coal India, software outsourcing player WIPRO and Infosys dipped 1.73 percent, 1.71 percent, 1.16 percent and 1.08 percent. Meanwhile, realty, consumer durables, power and health care sector gained 0.67 percent, 0.16 percent, 0.14 percent and 0.08 percent, respectively. Property developer DLF, Tata Steel, Sun Pharma and telecom operator Bharti Airtel grew 1.45 percent, 1.17 percent, 1.1 percent and 0.59 percent.
