French stocks surged more than three percent on Thursday after the European Central Bank in a surprise move cut its key interest rate by a quarter of a percentage point to 1.25 percent. At 1248 GMT, the CAC 40 was up 3.03 percent to 3,204.81 points after the move, with bank shares taking off as BNP Paribas gained more than 10 percent.
