Tokyo stocks continued to advance Friday morning as a halt in the drop of oil prices sent Wall Street higher overnight and lifted investor sentiment here.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 192.63 points, or 1.19 percent, from Thursday to 16,332.97.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 10.72 points, or 0.82 percent, to 1,318.26.
By the morning break, notable advancers were led by iron and steel, retail and electric appliance-related stocks.
