Paris - KUNA
A strike by Air France staff, essentially pilots, will worsen Tuesday, with at least 60 percent of flights expected to be grounded, Air France announced.
The pilots are striking to protest a management decision to develop a low-cost subsidiary, Transavia, because staff at the low-cost transporter are accepting lower pay and less favourable working conditions.
A spokeswoman at Air France said that the situation would worsen because pilots returning to France on Monday would likely stop work on Tuesday and boost the ranks of strikers.
In some airports, like Toulouse, in southern France, 80 percent of Air France flights were cancelled on Monday.
