The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the country donated more than 80 tons of humanitarian aid to Syria only though the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES). In addition, the authorities in Moscow have given 2 million Swiss Francs to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and $4.5 million to the World Food Programme and $1.5 million to the UN humanitarian affairs office in this way supporting the work the organization does in Syria since the beginning of the conflict. The 80 tons of aid, including tents, blankets, utensils and light furniture, baby food, food, was primarily received by the Syrian Red Crescent Society and represented the efforts of the Russian Federation to change the tendency of worsening of the humanitarian situation in the country. In particular, these showed the intention of the authorities in Moscow to influence the increasing number of civilian casualties, internally displaced persons and refugees.
