Tripoli - Egypt Today
Libyan military and medical sources said 12 Libyan army personnel were killed and 44 others injured during clashes with terrorists in al Sabri neighborhood and central Benghazi over the past 48 hours.
The sources told Bawabat al Wasat on Thursday that mines, explosive charges and snipers were behind most of the toll.
On Wednesday, Libya's eastern commander Khalifa Haftar said his forces have taken full control of Libya's second city Benghazi from rival armed groups after a three-year campaign.
The battle for Benghazi between Haftar's self-styled Libyan National Army (LNA) and an array of Islamist militants and other fighters has been part of a broader conflict since Libya slipped into chaos following the 2011 fall of strongman Muammar Gaddafi.
