More than half million Libyan children need aid

The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) said Thursday that more than half a million children in Libya need humanitarian assistance.
UNICEF called on reaching a political solution for the crisis and ending violence for the children in Libya.
Over 550,000 children need assistance because of political instability, on-going conflict, displacement, and economic collapse, UNICEF Regional Director, Geert Cappelaere said in a statement.
Cappelaere added that during discussions with the authorities in Tripoli and Benghazi, UNICEF reaffirmed its commitment to provide all the support for the Libyan children.
Next October, UNICEF plans to have all its international staff operating full-time from Libya and to widen its scale of assistance.
