Baghdad - XINHUA
At least 10 women were killed and 23 others wounded in attacks in a residential complex in Iraq's capital Baghdad on Saturday, an Interior Ministry source said.
Unidentified gunmen raided an apartment in Baghdad's eastern district of Zayouna, killing ten women and wounding three others. They then attacked another apartment nearby, injuring 15 women and five men, the source told Xinhua.
It's not immediately clear who is behind the attack, the source added.
Iraq is witnessing some of its worst violence in recent years. According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, a total of 8,868 Iraqis, including 7,818 civilians and civilian police personnel, were killed in 2013, the highest annual death toll in years.
