One person was killed and five others were wounded on Friday, after violent clashes broke out during a demonstration in Al Shurta neighborhood, Najaf province, southern Iraq, according to the Iraqi police.
The police department said that the demonstration was peaceful at the beginning, but it soon turned into a riot in which demonstrators cut off roads and burned tires. Also, heavy gunfire was shot from rooftops of some houses, according to radio Sawa.
Dozens of people held the demonstration to protest the poor electricity services and frequent power outage in the province
