Iraqi Parliament Speaker Salim al Jubouri said on Wednesday that Iraq and Turkey are important countries in the region and that their understandings on the basis of the Iraqi road map would ensure an important opportunity to achieve peace and security and fight terrorism.
A statement issued by Jubouri's office said the speaker called on Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and his accompanying delegation, during a meeting today, to start a new phase of cooperation between the two countries to fight terrorism and achieve peace.
He stressed the importance of opening new horizons between the two countries in the fields of trade and investments, praising Ankara's support for Baghdad to fight terror and also appreciated Anakar's efforts to receive Iraqi and Syrian refugees.
