New York set the tone of next summer as light, bright and airy. I love how the orange that pervaded at Jil Stuart and Derek Lam really packed a summery punch – you can almost taste the citrus in the clothes! And although the colours of Preen and Victoria Beckham were less intense, with collections doused in pastel and sorbet hues, they were no less beautiful. For me, VB is always a delight to view, with her timeless streamlined dresses, and this year she didn’t disappoint bringing her take on sports luxe to the table, and nailing it. According to NYFW sportswear is big next year with both Helmut Lang and Rag&Bone embracing it as well. I loved Rag&Bone’s recreation of classic pieces with a sporty twist – the sharp grey blazer with a softened white rim, the romantic diaphanous skirt toughened up with a grey mesh knit tank top and the cropped baggy trousers that were like an edgier, more street version of chinos.
