Egypt will host Saturday the second meeting of the African Union’s Specialized Technical Committee on Education, Science and Technology, with representatives of the education, higher education and scientific research sectors from 54 African countries participating.
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said on Friday that the committee’s resolutions will be submitted to the African heads of state after being approved by the ministers of higher education and technology.
The committee convenes in Cairo for the first time after it was reformed, the minister said, noting that the move comes in line with the Egypt's policy that gives high priority to Africa.
The meeting is set to address a number of key issues, including Science, Technology and Innovation Strategy for Africa 2024 as well as means of benefiting from Africa’s resources using education and scientific research tools.
