UK trade envoy Sir Jeffrey Donaldson said his country's welcomes positive reforms in Egypt under President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
Donalson, currently visiting Egypt at the head of a mission representing major British companies, said the economic reform program in Egypt has started to bear fruit, adding that such reforms would increase the chances of job opportunities and prosperity in the country.
He pointed out that such reforms would help the private sector to pump more investments into Egypt, saying that Britain wants seizing investment opportunities in Egypt.
As Britain is leaving the European Union it seeks to increase its presence in the Egyptian markets, he said.
The British official said he had important talks at the Ministry of Housing to discuss cooperation aspects in the new administrative capital and New Alamin city, saying he will also discuss with Egyptian officials cooperation in railways and roads.
He pointed out that his country seeks to increase the investments of Shell and BP companies especially in the fields of oil and gas.
The British official added that he will visit Manchester city to discuss with its companies investment opportunities in Egypt.
Petroleum Minister Tareq el Mulla had received at his office British Ambassador to Egypt John Casson and Donaldson to discuss available investment opportunities in Egypt.
During the meeting, they discussed joint cooperation in fields of petroleum industry and natural gas as well as means to boost ongoing cooperation as Britain is among major countries investing in the Egyptian petroleum and natural gas sectors.
