The number of liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers passing through the Suez Canal increased by 40.9 percent in January 2015 with 62 LNG carriers versus 44 LNG carriers in January last year, according to the Suez Canal Authority.
Meanwhile, the number of container ships and oil carriers passing through the Suez Canal experienced a drop of 2.1 percent and 3.2 percent consecutively in January 2015 compared with the same month last year.
As many as 336 oil carriers passed through the canal in January 2015 versus 347 in January last year.
