Egypt on Tuesday decided to impose temporary dumping fees for four months on rebar and wire rod imports from China, Turkey and Ukraine.
Fees of 17 percent of the cost, insurance and freight (CIF) will be imposed on the Chinese imports, from 10 percent to 19 percent of the CIF on the Turkish imports and from 15 to 27 percent on the Ukrainian imports, according to a decision issued by Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Kabil.
"The local industry has complained of the big increase in the imports of rebar and wire rod from China, Turkey and Ukraine," Kabil said in a statement.
The complaint was investigated and evidences that the local industry was harmed by the dumping were available, he added.
The decision will be effective from the date of its publication in the official gazette.
