Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Electricity and Renewable Energy Minister Mohamed Shaker witnessed Monday the inking ceremony of three agreements stipulating buying solar energy with 120 megawatts capacity in Upper Egyptian governorate of Aswan.
The step comes within the framework of efforts exerted by the Egyptian cabinet to activate the feed-in tariff program.
The inking ceremony was also attended by the Saudi Ambassador Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Kattan and the Chairman of ACWA Power Mohammad Abdullah Abunayyan.
Shaker said that agreements were signed between Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) and ACWA Power to develop and operate three projects of solar photovoltaic power stations with capacity of 120 megawatts in Aswan's Benban area.
The minister thanked ACWA Power company for investing in the Egyptian market, noting that the agreements with the firm was inked within the framework of benefiting from the modern techniques in producing electricity so as to fulfill the increasing needs of electricity in Egypt.
