The Umm Al Quwain Charity Association has run a number of charity initiatives worth Dh4.84 million during the holy month of Ramadan.
According to a senior official, up to 3,412 low-income Emirati and expatriate families benefitted from the diverse charity schemes.
"These are added to 122 orphans," said Eissa Ali, acting director of the association. The contributions provided included the distribution of charity worth Dh2.94 million, he added.
"These are apart from Dh183,000 as Eid gifts for orphans, along with Ramadan foodstuff coupons worth Dh691,730, and zakat of Dh30,000." The philanthropic projects are aimed to support indigent and low-income people, he underlined.
"The UAQ Charity Association spares no effort to ease the suffering of vulnerable people, reduce their financial burdens, and bring them happiness."
The association mainly supports orphans, patients, low-income families and students of indigent families, he elaborated.
"The Society runs an array of charity projects, including furnishing houses, distributing Eid clothes, and supporting financially incapable students and researchers."
The association has contributed Dh300,000 to the orphans registered with the Emirates Red Crescent.
