Minister of Industry and Mining Abdesselam Bouchouareb denied Thursday the holding of talks between Algeria and the world’s steel leader ArcelorMittal over the project of exploiting the large iron deposit of Gara Djebilet.
“We have never hold talks with ArcelorMittal over Gara Djebilet,” said the minister in a press briefing at the end of the conference on economic and social development, when a journalist asked him about possible negotiations with this group.
The minister underlined that Gara Djebilet project “is important and requires a perennial approach to develop it.”
Bouchouareb said that the only file broached with the world’s steel leaderis that relating to the relaunch of ELHadjar steel complex that ArcelorMittal exploits with the State-owned steel group Sider.
