Social Solidarity Minister Ghada Wali said recent economic reform measures have much contributed to expanding social protection measures.
Addressing a session titled "Takaful and Karama" held on the fringe of the second day of the Fourth Youth Conference, Wali said the social protection measures are related to the development plan for 2030 and the economic reform program presented by the government to the parliament.
The allocations of the social protection program reached EGP 3.6 at its beginning, said the minister, adding that the plan of 2030 aimed at doubling the number of the beneficiaries among 10 to 20 percent of the most poor categories of the society.
The allocations of the fiscal year 2016-2017 reached EGP 18 billion with a plan to increase the number of covered families from 1.6 million to 3 million according to the 2030 development plan, said the minister, asserting that the government would continue expanding the social protection programs to cover more families.
