Governor of Egypt’s Central Bank (CBE) Tarek Amer said on Monday that Egypt is regularly and annually paying all its debts.
In a press conference after meeting with Prime Minister Sherif Ismail, Amer said that some debts are required to be renewed namely the dues concerning the dept swap agreement with China and a loan at an amount of USD 2 billion from a number of international banks.
He added that the government paid a portion of the dues of the foreign petroleum companies.
He said that the CBE urged the foreign companies to address the bank to receive their dues, adding that the bank had paid USD 160 million as arrears.
