Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit has asserted that the Arabs will never relinquish Al Aqsa Mosque or the Haram al Sharif compound.

He made the remarks during his speech Thursday at the Arab foreign ministers’ meeting at the AL headquarters in Cairo to discuss the dangerous Israeli escalation in Al Quds city.

The AL sees East Jerusalem as red line and rejects Israeli attempts to change the de facto in the holy city, Abul Gheit asserted.

The recent crisis, caused by the illegal and unprecedented security measures taken by Israel on July 14 in the vicinity of the Haram al Sharif compound, unveiled that the Arab solidarity is the only way to face any challenge and stand against those who are trying to desecrate holy places, Abul Gheit stressed.

In his speech, the pan-Arab body chief hailed the courage of the Palestinian people who flocked to the gates of Al Aqsa Mosque to perform prayers and protest against Israel's unjust actions.

Also, he expressed his respect and appreciation of the Palestinian leadership’s stance that called for Israeli occupation authorities to back track on their security measures at Al Aqsa.

Furthermore, Abul Gheit thanked Arab leaders and ministers who made necessary contacts to cancel the Israeli measures.
