Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki said the "Jerusalem battle" has started and will only come to an end if the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories is over.
Maliki made the remarks at an emergency meeting of the Arab League Council at the level of foreign ministers in Cairo to discuss the Israeli violations in Jerusalem and in the vicinity of Al Aqsa Mosque.
He condemned the Israeli closure of Al Aqsa Mosque on Friday July 14, saying it was an unprecedented incident in half a century.
The people of Jerusalem will remain alert to defend the Islamic and Christian holy sites, he stressed.
"Close coordination was made between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Jordanian King Abdullah II to deal with the unprecedented Israeli violations," he srtressed.
