Algerian singer Rachid Taha will participate, alongside about 1000 artists from 13 countries, at the 26th Francofolies De Montreal Festival which will be held from 12 to 22 June, said the event’s organizers. Born in Algeria, Rachid Taha started his artistic career in France in the 1980s and he knew fame with Dahmane El Harrachi’s song “Yar’rayeh,” that he sang in 1998. The Algerian artist, who started singing 20 years ago, combines rai, chaabi, techno and rock in his style, in a mixing of traditional and modern tones. In his 9th album “Zoom,” released in 2013, Rachid Taha paid tribute to Oum Kaltoum and Elvis Presley.
