Tunisian security forces pledged to conduct investigations in the cases of terrorism glorification and praise of its crimes, as they found word “martyr” on the tomb of extremist element called Abdel Wahab Hameed who was killed during confrontation with the Tunisian military forces, as he was attempting to infiltrate to the Tunisian territories through the borders with Algeria with a number of other extremists.
Hameed is considered one of the most dangerous extremist elements who have been killed by the Tunisian forces. He was born on December 14, 1964 in the area of Osaga of Bizerte State. He left the country to work with the extremist groups then he transferred to Afghanistan to be inaugurated as emir of an armed group operating there. Then, he went to Iraq to receive training before going to Algeria.
After years, he managed to polarize a number of terrorists leading them to the borders between Algeria and Tunisia, as they attempted to infiltrate to the Tunisian territories after 2011 uprising using the state of insecurity that dominated the country. However, he was killed during their attempt to infiltrate to the Tunisian territories.
The crime of terrorism glorification witnessed notable increase during the recent period, especially on the social media networks. The Tunisian security forces managed to arrest a large number of extremists who praise the terrorist attacks adopted by the extremist groups, including ISIS.
Tunisian security forces arrested a young man for contacting with elements loyal to ISIS extremist group through the social media networks.
According to sources, the security forces inspected his computer and found that he contacted with the extremist elements and was keen to publish posts expressing support for the extremist group. They added that he was also keen to condemn the state institutions describing the leaders of civil states as dictators.
He also published on his social media accounts a number of videos glorifying the terrorist actions committed by the extremists in Syria. He was inciting against the Palestinian factions describing them as infidel.
The suspended is one of the extremist elements who returned from Libya. He was under house arrest upon a decision from the Tunisian authorities. He acknowledged that he was using his computer to glorify the extremist group, stressing his readiness to respond to the orders of extremists to fight against the ruling regimes in the Arab countries.
