French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Odrian on Thursday visited the Charles de Gaulle aircraft carrier which docks in the eastern part of the Mediterranean Sea to take part in the operations of an international coalition against Daesh.
Odrian said in statements that his visit aims at emphasizing France's determination to fight Daesh.
The visit also has a political nature ahead of a major military operation to retake Mosul, Iraq's second-biggest city from Daesh, he noted.
France was one of the first European countries to join the US-led coalition against Daesh.
