The Iraqi Higher Court ordered on Thursday the arrest of Kurdish Vice President Kosrat Rasul for describing the Iraqi forces in Kirkuk as “invaders”.
The arrest warrant comes under article 226 of the Iraqi penal code that will have a maximum sentence of seven years in prison for inciting violence against Iraqi forces.
Rasul was in Kirkuk when the Iraqi forces attacked the oil-rich city on Monday. Dozens of Kurdish Peshmerga forces were killed in the attack.
He described the Iraqi military operation in Kirkuk as another Anfal or Kurdish genocide.
