President Abdel Fattah El Sisi conferred on Saturday with Indian Minister of External Affairs M J Akbar, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and the Indian ambassador in Cairo.
The president stressed the deeply-rooted and historical ties with India, confirming Egypt's keenness on boosting relations with the Asian state, especially in light of Sisi's recent visit to the Indian capital New Delhi.
Sisi said he is looking forward to a visit by the Indian premier to Egypt, highlighting the importance of gearing up for meetings of the joint committee to foster bilateral cooperation in various domains.
The Indian minister handed over to Sisi a message from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in which he praised excellent relations between both countries. In addition, the Indian minister commended relations between the two countries.
On Sunday, president Sisi received Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al Abadi.
During the meeting, ways to promote relations between Cairo and Baghdad were discussed. Sisi congratulated Abadi for the achievements of the Iraqi Armed Forces in the war against Daesh terrorists.
