President Abdel Fatah El Sisi arrived in Uganda Thursday morning to take part in the first summit grouping Nile-basin countries.
Presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef said on Wednesday that Sisi's participation reflects the great importance Egypt attaches to fostering cooperation with Nile-basin countries.
The president will deliver a speech at the summit.
There are big potentials for cooperation among Nile-basin countries in the domains of energy, mining and industry, the spokesman said, noting that the summit will provide a good chance to mull ways of making the best use of the massive resources the Nile-basin countries enjoy.
Sisi will take part in the behind-closed-door consultative session grouping leaders of the Nile-basin countries and will hold bilateral talks with a number of African leaders, including President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda.
