New Ismailia City
Ismailia - Arab Today

President Abdel Fattah el Sisi arrived at New Ismailia City on Thursday to inspect the new housing units there.

The President listened to a presentation by head of the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces Kamel al Wazir on the progress of the project.

Wazir said the first stage, built on a 3,000-feddan area, includes 52,000 housing units, adding that 95 percent of it has been already finalized.

But the units will not be inhabited until all tunnels leading to the city are finalized to facilitate citizens' movement, he said.

Each stage will include service and administrative areas, he said.

Sisi was accompanied during the tour by Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi.

The tour comes on the sidelines of the third National Youth Conference, currently in session in Ismailia under the sponsorship of President Sisi.

Some 1,200 youths from Canal and Sinai governorates are taking part in the event that kicked off on Wednesday.

The first youth conference was held in Cairo and the second in Aswan.
