Russia’s Permanent Representative to the Vienna-based International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Mikhail Ulyanov said that the report submitted by the IAEA on Syria does not contain any evidence against it.
In a speech delivered at the session of IAEA board of governors in Vienna, Ulyanov said that Syria is a clear example of how to fabricate a nuclear nonproliferation file against it without any objective grounds.
He pointed out that these measures and practices towards Syria undermine the credibility of the Agency’s safeguards system and have serious negative consequences on the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT).
Ulyanov said that the IAEA confirms the Syrian government’s compliance with the nuclear non-proliferation obligations, adding that attempts to counter these results are politicized.
