An official source at Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's (KSA) Ministry of Defense has dismissed reports circulated by Israeli media outlets and echoed elsewhere, alleging that a meeting have taken place between the Saudi Chief of the General Staff Maj. Gen. Fayyad bin Hammad Al-Ruwaili and his Israeli counterpart Lt. Gen. Gadi Eizenkot.
It is true, the statement added, that both of them have participated in an international meeting of defense chiefs of staff, held at Andrews Air Force Base, in order to discuss means to confront violent extremist groups, with 81 countries' participation, on 15-16 October 2018, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
The meeting included a formal dinner for all participants, in honor of the Chairman of the US Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
Such a news item is a baseless and unfounded concoction, the statement pointed out, reaffirming that no such bilateral meeting has ever taken place, neither during that meeting nor elsewhere, the official source concluded.
