Khartoum - Egypt Today

Italy's Ambassador to Sudan Fabrizio Lobasso said Sunday his country is seeking to strengthen its relations with Sudan.

Lobasso stressed in a meeting with the Sudanese Minister of Minerals Hashem Ali Salem that Italy aims to boost economic cooperation with Sudan.

He pointed out that Italy has sought to lift the international sanctions imposed on Khartoum, saying that the Italian government is encouraging businessmen to invest in various fields in Sudan, especially the minerals field.

The Italian ambassador revealed an offer from an Italian firm to cooperate with the Sudanese government and businessmen to invest in mineral-related projects, including the exploration of Iron and steel in the Red Sea state.

While Salem confirmed his country's readiness to boost economic cooperation and trade with Italy, vowing to remove all obstacles facing Italian investors.
