Head of the Solidarity Committee at the House of Representatives Abdel Hadi el Qasbi criticized on Thursday the US Congress's decision to cut part of the US assistance to Egypt.
In statements, Qasbi said Egypt's relations with all world states are based on mutual respect and non-interference in other countries' internal affairs.
He added that Egypt has mutual interests with all countries that are based on respect.
Egypt is a heavyweight country that respects all diplomatic relations with all countries but it is against hostile ideas adopted by some organizations to target its national security, Qasbi said.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed on Wednesday regret over the US decision, calling it a "misjudgment of the nature of the strategic relations that have bound the two countries for decades." The move, it said, "reflects a lack of careful understanding of the importance of supporting the stability and success of Egypt, as well as the size and nature of the security and economic challenges faced by the Egyptian people."
