Russian Ambassador to the United States Anatoly Antonov on Friday congratulated Jon Huntsman on his new post as the US ambassador to Russia.
Antonov expressed hope for his US counterpart to succeed in improving relations between both countries.
“Congratulations to Jon Huntsman on his appointment to high and responsible post. I wish him success in rebuilding Russian-American relations", Russia Today channel reported, quoting Antonov as saying.
The new American Ambassador posted on his twitter account that he waits with impatience for the start of work in the Russian capital.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Wednesday that Moscow expects a dialogue immediately after arrival of new American Ambassador Jon Huntsman to Moscow and start clearing the debris that have recently accumulated on the development path of Russian-American relations.
