The Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said that the meeting between Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and a group of permanent representatives of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) held on Wednesday aimed at drumming up support to Egypt nominee Moshiera Khattab for the post of the head of the international organization.
During the meeting held in the house of the Egyptian Ambassador in Paris and its permanent representative to the UNESCO Ihab Badawy, Shoukry pointed out to Khattab's political and diplomatic long experience.
This was clear during the session held between the organization's executive council and Khattab during April where she presented a high-level vision on means of developing the UNESCO during the coming phase.
The meeting took up ways to promote the performance of the UNESCO especially amid the current challenges, Abu Zeid reiterated.
Shoukry stressed that Egypt with its cultural history backs the nomination of Khattab as head of the UNESCO in the elections slated for October, the spokesman said.
