Arab League (AL) Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit has expressed his appreciation of the important role played by Morocco to strengthen joint Arab action.
He made the remarks during a meeting with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Nasser Bourita, ahead of the Arab foreign ministers’ emergency meeting later in the day to discuss the latest developments in Al Quds city and Al Aqsa Mosque.
The pair exchanged views on a number of Arab issues, notably the Libyan, Syrian and Yemeni crises and the work to push forward the Arab-Arab cooperation in different political, economic and social fields, Spokesman for the AL chief Mahmoud Afifi said in a press statement on Thursday.
For his part, the Moroccan top-diplomat has handed over Abul Gheit a notice of Morocco’s financial contribution within the AL budget for 2017, Afifi added.
Also, Bourita voiced his country’s full support of Abul Gheit’s efforts, especially with regard to the AL role in handling crises sweeping the Arab nation, in addition to the exerted efforts to develop the AL General Secretariat in various domains, Afifi stressed.
