Attempt to smuggle drugs foiled in Oman, three held

Police foiled an attempt to smuggle drugs into the country and arrested three suspects in connection with the crime.

The Department of Narcotics Control, in cooperation with the special police unit, coast guards, air wings unit and K9 unit, were able to foil an attempt by three suspects to smuggle narcotics into the Sultanate via the sea in Dagmar Beach. 

Two Omanis were among the three arrested.

Police found several amounts of hashish, cartridges full of heroin and more than 17,000 psychotropic tablets in their possession.

The suspects have been referred to the public prosecution for further investigations.
