The ceremony on the 150th anniversary of the Egyptian parliament’s establishment embodies the country’s pro-democracy march and effective parliamentary action, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Yasser el Qadi said on Sunday.
Dated back to Mohamed Ali’s era, Egypt’s parliament is one of the oldest in the world, he added.
The parliamentary march also symbolizes the people’s aspirations to stabilize democracy, he said, highlighting the participation of world parliament speakers or their representatives in the event.
Parliamentary consultations will be held on the sidelines of the ceremony, the minister said.
